Questions we would ask too

What uptime do you guarantee?

We do not publish a "100% uptime" number, because nobody can deliver one. Service levels are set out in our terms, and planned maintenance is announced in the client area. If something breaks, you will hear it from a person.

Are the servers managed?

No. Both VPS and dedicated servers are unmanaged: you get root, you choose the operating system, and you run the stack. We help with the infrastructure underneath — network, hardware, connectivity, provisioning — and we will happily point you in the right direction beyond that, but we do not administer your applications.

Why is some of the dedicated hardware so old?

Because it is cheap and still useful. A four-core machine with DDR2 memory will never win a benchmark, but it is a perfectly good backup target, lab box or legacy-application host for the price of a couple of coffees. We mark that hardware as legacy so nobody buys it expecting current-generation performance.

How fast is provisioning?

About 24 hours, and for some machines the same day. Virtual servers are provisioned automatically where capacity allows; dedicated servers depend on stock, so some deploy immediately and others need the machine prepared first. We tell you which yours is before you order. The 24 hours is a target rather than a service level, and we would rather publish the number and be held to it than advertise "instant" and apologise later.

Do you still sell domains, shared hosting or SSL?

Shared hosting is back, as the Ember range: Plesk packages with WordPress and other CMS installed in one click, and a domain that is free for as long as the package is active — yours to transfer in or out. Standalone domain registration, standalone SSL, email, VPN, SEO tools, website builders and reseller plans stay retired. Ember, virtual servers and dedicated hardware are the whole company.
